##Locorotondo##

The ancient Town of Locorotondo is perhaps one of the most picturesque and evocative that can be visited while staying in Alberobello, starting from its shape which, as the name suggests, is precisely a "round place". The historic center is made up of labyrinthine concentric alleys and stone buildings culminating with the picturesque sloping roofs called ** "cummerse" **, made with the same types of stone as the trulli, the so-called "chiancarelle".

The territory of Locorotondo is characterized by the Contrade, there are 146 of them, despite the rather narrow borders. The districts were once usually composed of agglomerations of trulli of 30-50 cones, inhabited by groups of families who shared some common spaces. In one of these, Contrada Marziolla, there is one of the trulli considered to be among the oldest, as the architrave at the entrance bears a date of the sixteenth century (1599 or 1509).

Locorotondo is perfect for spending evenings with friends, there are all kinds of clubs along its narrow streets but above all along the so-called "waterfront" of Via Nardelli, a road that runs along the outer edge of the historic center and overlooks a wonderful view of the Itria Valley.

The city's summer calendar is of particular interest and growing attractiveness: it includes the now famous Locus festival, the patronal feast dedicated to San Rocco with the spectacular fireworks competition and the many other small events that animate the Locorotondese summers. Locorotondo is also famous for the Locorotondo DOC wine cultivar, a white wine with a dry and intense flavor, the perfect accompaniment to your summer tastings.
